Royal Mail industrial action up-date

With more strikes planned for this Friday 6th and Monday 9th November, who is to say more won’t be announced again during this weeks industrisal action?

Below is the coummunication we have received from Royal Mail. Remember, if you have urgent or important items to post, we cn still send your letters, packets & parcels to their recepient without using the postal system.

Dear Customer,
The Communication Workers Union (CWU) has notified Royal Mail of their intention to hold two further days of strike action on Friday 6th & Monday 9th November. If it goes ahead, this strike action will affect most mail services on both Friday and Monday.

Whilst this is a further and serious development, national strike action is not inevitable and concentrated talks between Royal Mail and CWU are continuing.

The details of the national industrial action are as follows:

Friday 6th

All functions across UK

Limited collection, processing, movement and delivery of mail.

Saturday 7th

No strikes taking place

Mail services will operate as usual

Monday 9th

All functions across UK

Limited collection, processing, movement and delivery of mail

Mail services are unaffected on Monday to Thursday this week and on Saturday 7th November, although delivery and collection times may be later than usual in some areas because of a larger than usual amount of mail to sort and deliver.

The strike action planned for Friday 6th and Monday 9th November is not inevitable. We are continuing to urge the CWU to call off their strike action and concentrate with us on supporting our customers during the Autumn and Christmas peak mail period.

If this strike action does go ahead, some delay to the collection, distribution, processing and delivery of mail is inevitable.
